- FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS ~ 2012 The Course which will begin in
JANUARY 2012 will be open to children who will have attained their 8th birthday by the 31stAUGUST 2012. All children who have
been baptised and live within the parish of Holy Family are welcome to apply to be accepted onto the course.
Here
is a reminder of the commitment needed by the ‘Family’ for a child to make their First Reconciliation and
First Holy Communion. - The
candidate must have attained their 8th birthday by 31st AUGUST 2012
- The child will need to be present at the First Holy Communion
Course, which will be running during term times on a Saturday 10.30am ~ 11.30am. If your child is involved in a sports team
or other commitment on a Saturday morning, you will need to decide between the First Holy Communion Course and the activity.
It may be that the activity is stopped until after the First Holy Communion Mass
- The child will have to ‘sign-in’ for Sunday Mass at the back of the Church each week. The Mass at
which most First Holy Communion activities occur is Sunday 11am Mass, but families are free to attend any of the Sunday Masses
6pm Saturday ~ 9.30am & 11am Sunday.
- Candidates are expected to attend Mass here at Holy
Family Church with their parents / guardians.
- Behaviour of the candidate whilst at the First Holy Communion Course, is
the responsibility of the Parents / Guardian. If a child is badly behaved, he / she will be removed from the course. The catechists
are not trained to discipline children.
- Parents will be required to attend meetings on occasions while the children are having
their lesson. There must be a representative of each child present at the meeting - good. notice will be given for all parents
meetings.
The Parish of Holy Family and the Catechists will ensure that your child is well prepared
to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We will give them instruction and encouragement in all
areas of the course and support the children and families as they move towards the celebration of God’s Greatest Gift.
We take this work very seriously and are committed to making sure the children are ready for the Sacraments.
It is a partnership ~ Christ ~ Church ~ Child ~ Family. If you would like to apply to the First Holy Communion Course, please apply in writing or email, including
the Candidate’s full name, date of birth, date & location of Baptism, if it took place in a Church other than Holy
Family, a copy of the Baptism Certificate (if this is not available, please contact the Church to obtain a copy), you don’t need to delay your application
until it arrives and also Parent’s full names, address, telephone number and email.
